All the values are expressed as mean ± SEM, where *p < 0.05 compared to simvastatin, **p < 0.05 compared to simvastatin. Data were compared with each other by one-way ANOVA followed by Tukey’s post hoc analysis using Prism version 6.01 Demo version (Graph Pad Inc., La Jolla, CA, USA). Statistical values are F (DFn, DFd): F (4, 10) = 12.2, p = 0.0007. IC₅₀ of sesamol is 2134 ± 8.41 μM, IC₅₀ of simvastatin is 70.05 ± 2.34 μM
