The effect of ALDH in liver cancer stem cell (CSC) model. The chemo-/radiotherapy leads to increased ROS, lipid peroxidation in cancer cells. ROS can provoke oxidation of PUFAs in membrane lipid bilayers to form highly reactive aldehydes. ALDH is involved in the oxidation of aldehydes into carboxylic acid in cancer stem cells, contributing to resistance and relapse.
