MYC activates the transcription of genes that promote proliferation and represses the expression of E-cadherin leading to EMT. MYC-nick, however is highly expressed in the cytoplasm of migratory cancer cells. It drives the expression of fascin and the activation of CDC42. Both fascin induction and CDC42 activation require the MBII domain on MYC-nick, which recruits HATs and promote acetylation of cytoplasmic proteins. (K = lysine).
