Colocalization of cell-cell adhesion proteins with autophagy markers in the inner medullary collecting duct of 4-h bilateral ureteral obstruction (BUO) rats. Inner medulla sections of sham (S; n = 3) and 4-h BUO (n = 3) rats were triple labeled against aquaporin-2 (AQP2; red), lysosomal associated membrane protein 1 (Lamp1; pink), and downregulated proteins [RhoA and cortactin (Cttn)]. Insets: magnified views of the areas where significant colocalization was observed as a group of puncta. These colocalized puncta were not observed in control sections. Scale bars = 4 µm. Scatterplots demonstrate the degree of colocalization between RhoA and Lamp1 (Pearson correlation coefficient, r² = 0.81, P < 0.05), Cttn, and Lamp1 (r² = 0.94, P < 0.05). Two independent experiments were performed.
