Subpanels (A) and (B) illustrate the findings of two male patients with gastric cancer who had identical body mass index (22 kg/m2). Red indicates skeletal muscle mass areas. Patient (A) of age 62 years had sarcopenia with skeletal muscle index (SMI) of 36.0 cm2/m2, whereas 72-year-old patient (B) had SMI of 53.3 cm2/m2.
