Interaction of IL-6 with the estrogen synthesis and metabolism in HGSOC. IL-6 influences several key steps in the formation of estrogen precursors, active estrogens, and their respective conjugates leading to decreased levels of steroid metabolites. By contrast, treatment with the anti-IL-6 antibody TCZ can antagonize this effect, thereby, stimulating the biotransformation of estrogens.
