1H NMR Spectroscopic Study of the Hemin-Mediated Oxidation of Serotonin

NMR yields were calculated by comparing the spectra of (A) serotonin (1 mM) in pH 7.4 PBS at 37°C in the presence of (B) hemin (15 μM) and an oxidative mixture containing H2O2 (1 mM) and sodium ascorbate (40 μM), (C) an H2O2-ascorbate oxidative mixture plus MnTMPyP (120 μM), and (D) an H2O2-ascorbate oxidative mixture plus MMn (120 μM) recorded after a reaction time of 120 min in all cases.
