Figure 4

Effect of the diterpenes briarellin T, and asbestinin 17, 27 and 28 on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced TNF-α (A), IL-6 (B), IL-1β (C) and IL-8 (D) production by THP-1 macrophages. Cells (105 cells/mL) were pre-treated with diterpenes (10, 20 and 50 μM) or dexamethasone (Dex, 1 μM) for 1 h. Afterwards, the macrophages were stimulated with LPS (1 μg/mL) for 24 h. Data are the means ± SEM of four independent experiments. Mean value was significantly different compared with the unstimulated group (*** p <0.001; Student t test). Mean value was significantly different compared with LPS-stimulated cells (+ p <0.05, ++ p <0.01, +++ p <0.001; one-way ANOVA followed by Bonferroni’s Multiple Comparison test).
