IAA in vitro production by Psn23 and its ΔmatE and pT3-matE mutants. Bacteria were grown on minimal medium (MM) supplemented with L-tryptophan (Trp, 0.25mM), at 26 °C in shaking condition. Salkowski’s assay was carried out on bacterial supernatants collected after 24 h (blue) and 48 h (red) of growth. The data represent the average of three independent experiments, each with replicates ± standard deviation (SD). Different letters indicate significant differences among means of mutants at p < 0.05, according to Tukey’s test.
