The cells were infected with the indicated P. aeruginosa strains, and untreated and pretreated with the NADPH oxidase inhibitor diphenyleneiodonium (DPI; 10 μM for 30 min), as indicated. At the end of the infection macrophages (time 0) and after 60 and 180 min, samples were collected and the CFU determined.
