The net monetary benefit (NMB) of an intervention is the difference between the monetary value of total expected QALYs (WTP multiplied by expected QALYs) and total expected costs [NMB = (WTP × ΔQALYs) − Δcosts]. If the NMB of one intervention exceeds the NMB of a second intervention, the first intervention is cost-effective compared with the second intervention. RT = radiation therapy.
