Characterization of gene-specific primers used for MT mRNA quantification. Besides the sequence and length of the respective primer, also the primer efficiencies of both primer pairs estimated by generation of a standard curve are reported. Even though the primer efficiency of the second primer pair (md-MTs) is below 90%, this combination was used due to length limitation of the respective md-MT mRNA sequences.
