Rates of ascites were not statistically different between the two ethnic groups. B. Proportion of patients with hepatic encephalopathy. A significantly higher proportion of Latino males had hepatic encephalopathy compared to Caucasian males; comparing females, rates of hepatic encephalopathy were not different.
