Serum bactericidal assay was performed with B. burgdorferi ZS7 (ST1), B. afzelii LU171 (ST2), B. garinii PFr (ST3), B. bavariensis DK6 (ST4), B. garinii PHei (ST5), and KL11 (ST6).
Serum bactericidal (SB) titer is defined as the reciprocal of the lowest dilution showing ≥50% reduction in spirochetes compared to negative sera.
