Lectin binding to sialidase-treated cells. Untreated (control) and V. cholerae- (25 mU/ml) sialidase-treated Ell-0 cells were stained with FITC-labeled lectin from Maackia amurensis (FITC-MALI), which recognizes α2,3 sialic acids. The binding of FITC-MALI to cells preincubated in the presence of sialidase from Vibrio cholerae was reduced revealing the specificity of lectin binding to sialoglycoconjugates.
