Mice were randomly grouped and inoculated intravaginally with Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2). Geldanamycin (GA) treatment was done in the same way from 1 h post infection, three times a day for 4 days. Samples of vaginal secretions from all mice in each group were collected individually at 96 h post infection. Samples were frozen at −70 °C until titration performed by cytopathic effect assay.
