 Masking of outcome assessment: not reported. PHACO: 1 suture; ECCE: 4 to 5 sutures. Same IOL used for both techniques

 Inclusion criteria: patients with cataract in association with pseudoexfoliation; small pupil; small to moderate phacodenesis 
 Exclusion criteria: partial or complete subluxation; vitreous present in anterior chamber
