Methods	Randomised double‐blind interventional controlled trial.
Participants	18 to 60 year old patients with refractory epilepsy. Both genders included.
Interventions	Drug: Verapamil (80 mg TID). Drug: Placebo (TID).
Outcomes	Primary outcome measures: percentage reduction of seizure frequency (time frame: 3 months) (designated as safety issue: No) after 3 months of treatment compared to baseline.
