Complexities include the possibilities of parasite flow among terrestrial, marine, and freshwater ecosystems; south to north transport of tissue cysts in migratory wildlife intermediate hosts (IH); and congenital (transplacental) transmission, which is thought to occur in most mammalian hosts.
