^aA mixture of styrene (0.02 M), monochloroacetic acid (5 equiv), fac-[Ir(ppy)₃] in a mixture of benzene and acetonitrile (2 mL) was irradiated overnight under an N₂ atmosphere with 458 nm LEDs. The yield was determined by ¹H NMR spectroscopy with trimethoxybenzene as external standard.
