Gene expression and phenotypes were measured in (A) adipose tissue from a lean/obese patient cohort (mean ± SD 24.2 ± 9.1 kg/m2), and (B) adipose tissue samples from BMI-matched obese patients (mean ± SD 43.2 ± 3.1 kg/m2) characterized by hyperinsulinemic euglycemic clamp. rs4684847 risk allele and nonrisk allele genotypes were determined by Sequenom-assay. p values and b-estimates from linear regression analysis of PRRX1 mRNA expression levels with phenotype measures are shown.
