a

Adequacy ratios in the absence of ASF; the ratio of average daily availability of a nutrient to the requirement for a representative consumer. Data from https://impactnutrients.ifpri.org/nutrientModeling/.

b

Reference nutrient supply: average nutrient supply in the reference scenario (units) per person per day.

c

Micrograms of dietary folate equivalents.

d

Milligrams of niacin equivalents.

e

Micrograms of retinol activity equivalents.

f

Does not account for vitamin synthesized in the presence of sunlight.

g

Milligrams of α-tocopherol.

h

There are no recommended daily allowances for fat, which prevents the calculation of an adequacy ratio. Recommendations for fat intake are that total fat should contribute 25–35% of total energy intake, and saturated fat should contribute less than 10% of total energy intake. In the reference scenario China’s share of calories from total and saturated fat was 24% and 7% respectively.
