Viral inactivation was considered as follows. ‘Inactivation W’ corresponds to the inactivation of virus in the water phase; ‘Inactivation B’ corresponds to the inactivation of virus in biofilm; ‘Inactivation BW’ corresponds to the inactivation of virus entrapped or attached to biofilm and released into the water phase by sloughing or erosion.
