Cumulative egg production (mean ± s.e.) of female Pieris brassicae butterflies that had developed on control plants (blue diamonds, n = 19) and fipronil-treated plants (orange circles, n = 17). Egg production on fipronil-treated plants is also given excluding unviable eggs (dark grey squares, n = 17). Production of unviable eggs was negligible in control butterflies.
