MME/d refers only to the maximum exposure when a opioid was prescribed. Abbreviations: ED=emergency department; iOD=initial opioid overdose; OST=opioid substitution therapy (i.e. methadone, buprenorphine); MME/d=morphine milligram equivalents per day.
