26 August 2009	New search has been performed	Searches were run and five additional studies were found but had to be excluded from the review because data could not be separated for patients with intermittent claudication. Risk of bias tables were added to the review. A recommendation was made that the review should be updated as soon as the results of recently completed studies are published but that the scope of the review should be broadened to include patients with intermittent claudication and critical limb ischaemia.
