Cirrhosis affects the regulation of bile acid metabolism. Total serum bile acids (a) and primary conjugated bile acids (c) showed a stepwise increase in NASH-non-HCC and NASH-HCC. Serum levels of 7-alpha-Hydroxy-4-Cholesten-3-one (C4) (b) were slightly increased in NASH-non-HCC patients but decreased in NASH-HCC patients.
