GlcNAc induction of filamentous hyphal morphology. Budding cells were grown in synthetic glucose medium to observe the yeast form, and then switched to medium containing 50 mM GlcNAc for 3 h at 37 °C to induce the transition to filamentous pseudohyphae (distinguished by pinched bud necks) and hyphal cells (chains of elongated cells with smooth parallel walls).
