Recommended Microbiologic Evaluation in Patients with Hospital-Acquired Pneumonia

  • Two sets of blood cultures

  • Gram stain and culture of a valid sputum sample*

  • Urinary antigen test for detection of Legionella pneumophila (in endemic areas or during outbreaks)
