1The species of the aphid colonies were identified by sequencing the nucleotides of fragments of a mitochondrial gene cytochrome c oxidase 1 (COI) using RT-PCR. Rhopalosiphum padi (the bird cherry-oat aphid); R. maidis (the corn leaf aphid); Sitobion avenae (the English grain aphid). 2The five aphid samples (BaA3-18-10 to BaA3-18-14) were obtained from the barley plants grown in a different area of the IPSR field.
