Abnormal capnogram.

The sudden decrease in end-tidal Pco2 suggests a life-threatening situation in which the capnograph no longer detects carbon dioxide in the exhaled gas. This capnogram suggests the possibility of esophageal intubation, obstructed endotracheal tube, disconnected airway, or ventilator malfunction; these possibilities must be excluded before it can be assumed that the capnograph is malfunctioning.
