Fig. 2 — Merlin depletion negatively impacts embryonic development and tissue maintenance. Merlin is indispensable for normal extraembryonic structure formation and its loss is embryonic lethal. In differentiated and normal tissues, Merlin loss results in cell overproliferation due to defective contact-growth inhibition and promotes cancer
