Trial name or title High flow nasal cannula versus bubble nasal CPAP for the treatment of transient tachypnea of the newborn in infants ≥ 35 weeks' gestation.
Methods Randomization to compare HFNC with bubble nasal CPAP.
Participants Infants born at week 35 of gestational age or more with transient tachypnea of the newborn up to 24 hours of age.
Interventions Compare HFNC with bubble nasal CPAP.
Outcomes
  • Primary: duration of respiratory support

  • Secondary: determination and comparison of esophageal pressure, time to first enteral feed, time to first oral feed, length of stay, weight gain, frequency of desaturations, air leak syndrome, nasal irritation, local columella necrosis, need for endotracheal intubation, need for mechanical ventilation
