SFN activates ERK but inhibits S. aureus-mediated activation of JNK and p38. THP-1-derived macrophages were pretreated with 10 µM SFN prior to S. aureus infection. Total protein lysates were collected 6 h after infection and western blot analysis was performed using specific antibodies targeting GAPDH, (A and B) total and phospho-ERK, (C and D) total and phospho-p38 and (E and F) total and phospho-JNK. Blot images are representative of 3 independent experiments. Densitometry analysis was performed using Image Studio lite 4.0 software. *P<0.05 and **P<0.01 according to one-way ANOVA followed by Tukey's post hoc test.
