Autologous

  • Cells readily available.

  • Best for HSCT in non-malignant disease – no graft-versus-host disease (GVHD).

  • In malignant disease, there is a risk of re-introducing malignant cells
Sibling: syngeneic (identical twin) Best – no GVHD
Sibling (HLA-matched) Minimal GVHD
Unrelated donor (HLA-matched) Some GVHD
