Diagnostic Criteria for Pediatric OSAS Based on AASM International Classification of Sleep Disorders, 3rd ed.[26] (Diagnosis Requires A + B)

A. The presence of one or more of the following:
1. Snoring
2. Labored, paradoxical, or obstructed breathing during the child’s sleep
3. Sleepiness, hyperactivity, behavioral problems, or learning problems
B. Polysomnography demonstrates one or more of the following:
1. One or more obstructive or mixed apneas, or obstructive hypopneas, per hour of sleep
2. A pattern of obstructive hypoventilation, defined as at least 25% of total sleep time with hypercapnia (*PETCO2 > 50 mm Hg) and/or arterial oxygen desaturation in association with one or more of the following: snoring, flattening of the inspiratory nasal pressure waveform, and paradoxical thoracoabdominal motion.
