Participants were instructed to indicate the animal doing the bad action as fast and accurately as possible. Target sentences were always in English. Competing sentences were either in English or in Greek and always spoken by the opposite gender (e.g., target: man's voice, interference: woman's voice or vice-versa). Control trials were administered without verbal interference.
