Methods RCT. Allocation concealment clear; masking of participants and primary investigators adequate, masking of outcome assessment adequate.
Participants 150 patients of one surgeon who were having cataract surgery at Vancouver General Hospital, Canada. Age range 21‐95 years.
Interventions Retrobulbar block (50 patients): received 4 ml of anaesthetic; peribulbar block (50 patients): received 7 ml of anaesthetic; and modified retrobulbar block (50 patients): received 4.5 ml of anaesthetic.
Outcomes Akinesia, analgesia, orbital pressure, block supplementation, complications, patient satisfaction.
