Time course of cytokine production. Supernatants in the absence (blue line) or presence (red line) of CD14+ PBMCs were recovered, and cytokines were quantitated using a cytokine bead array. The error bars represent SDs from three independent experiments. Difference in time-dependent changes between two groups were assessed using a two-factor linear mixed-effect model with interaction terms, in which the time variable was entered as a categorical variable because the correlation with the outcome was not linear. P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant (*p < 0.05, **p < 0.01. ***p < 0.001). n.s.: not significant.
