Time course of cytokine production. Supernatants in the absence (blue line) or presence (red line) of CD14⁺ PBMCs were recovered, and cytokines were quantitated using a cytokine bead array. Difference in time-dependent changes between two groups were assessed using a two-factor linear mixed-effect model with interaction terms, in which the time variable was entered as a categorical variable because the correlation with the outcome was not linear.
