ELN expression was decreased in elastin insufficiency (EI) induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC)-smooth muscle cells (SMCs). A, ELN mRNA expression by reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) was 20%–46% lower in patient iPSC-SMCs compared with all control SMCs. B, Parallel reaction monitoring mass spectrometry of the sum of peak area of 4 normalized elastin peptides showed lower elastin formation in all patient iPS-SMCs compared to controls (not statistically significant for ELN2).
