Values of the percentile M50 of the von Mises stress for both extinct and extant species. A composite phylogeny based on the dated consensus tree from version 3 of 10Ktrees³⁶ and the latest phylogeny for fossil hominins from⁵² was generated. This phylogeny was slightly modified to remove species for which there were no biomechanical data. Von Mises Stress distribution for each fossil specimen under the four different bite cases are also included: IB: incisive bite; CB: canine bite; PB: premolar bite and MB: molar bite.
