Salvianolic acid A ameliorates early-stage atherosclerosis development by inhibiting NLRP3 inflammasome activation in Zucker diabetic fatty rats. SAA can reduce the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome and NF-κB, thereby reducing the production of cleaved caspase-1 and IL-1β. This may be an important pathway for SAA to combat early AS in T2DM.
