Corrigendum for Ruiz-Ojeda et al. Effects of Sweeteners on the Gut Microbiota: A Review of Experimental Studies and Clinical Trials. Advances in Nutrition, Volume 10, Issue suppl_1, January 2019, Pages S31–S48. The term “isomaltose” is misused. The authors refer to “Isomalt” (European safety number E 953; International number INS 953) also termed as “isomaltitol”, which is hydrogenated isomaltose. Structurally it is formed by the linkage of glucommanitol and glucosorbitol. In the last paragraph, on page S38, the sentence should read “Isomaltitol or isomalt (E-953) is a polyol used worldwide as a sugar replacement with technological properties comparable to those of sucrose.”
