Temporal control in photoinduced iron-catalyzed ATRP of trifluoroethyl methacrylate (TFEMA). Better temporal control was achieved by decreasing the concentration of the iron catalyst from 4 to 2 mol%. Reaction conditions: [TFEMA]/[EBPA]/[FeBr3]/[TBABr] = 50/1/x/2x (x = 0.02 or 0.04) in 50 vol% solvent (trifluoroethanol/anisole = 9/1), irradiated under blue LEDs (465 nm, 12 mW/cm2).
