HPLC analysis of dopamine (DA) and its metabolites. The cytoplasmic accumulation of DA, DOPAL, and DOPAC was determined in PC12, PoTwS, PC12+syn+, PC12+sep−, PC12+hydroxytyrosol, PC12+syn++sep−+hydroxytyrosol, and PC12+syn++sep−+ADH+ cells. PC12+syn++sep−+ADH+ cells displayed the lowest level of DA, DOPAL, and DOPAC production compared to the other cell lines. The description of each cell line is given in Supplementary Table S3. Data are mean and S.E. values from three independent experiments (n = 3). # p < 0.05, relative to control cells (PC12 cells). * p < 0.05 and ** p < 0.01, relative to the cells treated only with salsolinol.
