Criteria for adjudication of a TIA, minor stroke, or mimic event in the INSIST study.

Adjudicated group	INSIST criteria
Transient ischemic attack	Rapidly developing clinical signs of focal disturbance of cerebral function lasting less than 24 h with no apparent non-vascular cause
Minor stroke	A stroke with a National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score of less than or equal to 4 lasting more than 24 h
Mimic event	Neurological disturbance with no apparent vascular cause
