The Light Forge microfluidic chip. Optical micrograph of the Light Forge microfluidic chip/cartridge for real-time PCR and high-resolution melting analysis of amplified samples. Scale bar, 1 mm. The chip/cartridge is made up of an elastomeric transparent polymer called polydimethylsiloxane and has 20 reactors, each linked to an independent input port. These reactors are 500 µm long, 200 µm wide, and 150 µm high, translating into a volume of 1.5 nL. The PCR master mix was loaded at 5 psi until the PCR chambers were full.
