Kaempferol enhances VEGF-triggered expressions of MMP-2 and MMP-9. HUVECs, at a density of 40 × 104 per well, were seeded in a six-well plate. VEGF (5 ng/ml) was applied with or without Avastin or kaempferol at different concentrations. The cell lysates were collected after drug treatment. The protein expressions of MMP-2 and MMP-9 were determined by performing Western blotting (upper panel). GAPDH served as a loading control. Quantitation was done from the band intensity in Western blotting (lower panel). Results are expressed as the fold of change as compared to control (X Basal), where the control group (no drug) was set as 1, mean ± SEM, where n = 3; p < 0.05 *p < 0.01 **p < 0.001 (***) vs VEGF-treated group. MMP, matrix metalloproteinase; GAPDH, glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase.
