1The NC was achieved by reducing SID lysine by 10% with proportional lowering of all other essential AA, plus reducing added fat by 1 percentage point. Diet phases 1 through 3 were fed for 1 wk each whereas phase 4 was fed for 2 wk.

2Quantum Blue 5G Phytase (AB Vista Feed Ingredients; Marlborough, Wiltshire, UK) was added at 0.0063% to the PC and to the NC diets to produce the two dietary treatments containing 2,500 FTU/kg of phytase.
