Figure 1. — Treatment by day of semen analysis effect on total motility for Exp1. Semen was collected from six boars and diluted into a commercial extender that was supplemented with the following: 0 mM of betaine (B0), 51 mM of betaine (B51), 102 mM of betaine (B102), and 205 mM of betaine (B205). Semen was analyzed on day 0 (D0) and after 72 h of storage (D3) and analyzed using a CASA system. This figure shows that 102 mM of betaine improved D0 total motility compared with the 0 mM control (P = 0.014), but in general 205 mM of betaine reduced the total motility, especially after storage for 72 h.
